Organisational

What is Multiply?

Multiply exists to identify, enable, and unleash missional leaders to evangelise churches into existence across denominations, throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

We are called Multiply because our prayer is that as churches are evangelised into existence, they in turn would in turn plant further churches to do the same. That in those churches, the number of people brought to life through a hope in Jesus would multiply!

Who leads Multiply?

See here for more information on the leadership of Multiply.

How does Multiply operate “across denominations, throughout Aotearoa New Zealand”?

The best kind of church planting happens from the ground up – energetic planters who are keen to just go for it and can draw on the support from denominational structures. Multiply works with and for existing denominations and networks to provide a trusted assessment process, conference platform, and coaching partnership to identify, enable, and unleash planters to remain within their denominational structures.

Church Planting

Who will Multiply appeal to?

Christian leaders who are eager to see churches evangelised into existence. They will recognise there is so much to be gained by rubbing shoulders with a bunch of people considering planting or currently planting as well as connecting with a crowd of older planters and coaches who are a few years down the track and know how to build healthy churches that are grounded and growing in the gospel of Jesus.

Multiply should also appeal to planters who see they can give as well as get. As a group we can do much more than we can alone so as a network across denominations we can provide far more experience and insight than individual denominations alone. We hope multiply will build a network of planters who will multiply more planters.

Why a Kiwi approach to church planting?

A Kiwi movement gives a big vision, and this has a profound influence on local ministry. A Kiwi movement also provides easy access to ideas and leaders around the country, which is both humbling and empowering. Finally, and in some ways least importantly, a Kiwi movement can provide some resources that are difficult for more local groups to put together.

Assessment

What is the assessment process?

The assessment process includes submitting a written application and questionnaires, referee questionnaires, a preaching evaluation and a face to face interview with experienced church planters. The process is rigorous because we care about potential planters and want to make sure they are well prepared for the hard years ahead.

When should I be assessed?

Assessment will me most helpful when you have had a chance to test and grow your gifts doing ministry and training, and are thinking through planting a church. If you are seeking to plant a church, appropriately gifted, convicted about the need, certain of the task which lies before you and you are between 12-24 months or less from starting your church, it is time to apply.

Coaching

How does coaching work?

Church planter coaching is really the gem of Multiply. It provides a multi-dimensional conversation that points to Christ and shepherds a planter. Coaches are appointed after considering many things such as the area the church is being planted in and the denomination or network the planter is planting with.
